By request from the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which finances the so-called "people's kitchens" which provide free meals for the poor, Aleksandra Posarac, Srdjan Bogosavljevic and Miladin Kovacevic from the Economic Institute in Belgrade studied the social and economic background of people who receive this type of aid. While assessing the eventual need for expansion of the program, this team also studied the situation of the average Yugoslav household.
