According to the official data, there are about seven hundred active radio and TV stations in Serbia, although there are also those who claim that their actual number is not known, and that there must be over a thousand ‘media houses’. The difference became much more overt after October 5th, when some frequencies became ‘freed’ from the previous state pressure, in order to get hold of the best possible starting positions on June 1st – the date when the Federal Ministry of Telecommunications should announce a public tender for the distribution of frequencies, as Minister Boris Tadic has already asserted.
