War

Using air strikes, NATO forces carried out aggression against Yugoslavia on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Shortly after that, a state of war was declared by the Federal Government of Yugoslavia.  In the first phase of bombing, targets in Pristina, Belgrade, Podgorica, Novi Sad, Pancevo, etc. were hit.  Scene in Belgrade: while at 8:25 p.m. sirens were whaling in New Belgrade, tram no. 7 was picking up passengers in the center of Belgrade - a young woman kissing her boyfriend in a hurry while he jumps on the tram as she stays waiving to him for a long time.  Scene in Podgorica: thick columns of smoke were flowing from the airport, the sound of bombers was splitting the air, while a group of youths were hollering: "Clinton, we'll fuck you over!"  Scene in the world: German consulate is burnt in Novosibirsk.  Scene in the editorial office of VREME: 8:15 p.m., the editorial office decides to throw the just printed issue into the recycling bin, with the understanding: "See you all tomorrow, bright and early."
