New Commanders

Every Single One A Veteran

New Aide to the Chief-of-Staff is General Nikola Mandarinic (the former Chief-of-Staff of the First Army, previously Commander of the Territorial Defence in Vojvodina, ivolved in the war in Slavonia, a year to go before retiring). New Commander of the First Army is General Jevrem Cokic (58), whose name has been mention in various personnel combinations. General Cokic was wounded in Herzegovina in October 1991 when his helicopter took a hit. New Commander of the Second Army is recently promoted Major General Bozidar Babic who was the Montenegrin Defense Minister during the war. The Air Force Commander is General Miloje Pavlovic, former Chief-of-Staff under General Stevanovic, and the pilot with combat experience. The Navy Commander is recenly promoted Admiral Dojcilo Isakovic (57), famous for pulling out the navy base from Split. It is striking that instead of General Mile Mrksic, the post of the Head of the Command of Special Units was occupied by Colonel Miodrag Panic, the former Commander of one of Command Brigades, former guard with combat experience from Vukovar. Future career of General Mrksic could be interesting. All newly appointed commanders have one thing in common: they are all veterans of the latest wars.
