Who is who in the Crisis Headquarters

Senior Sergeant Ostoja Zec: Commander of the Crisis Headquarters. Age 39. Auto mechanic, worked for ten years in the state firm and then started his own shop in Laktasi close to Banjaluka. After working for eight years, when the war in Croatia broke-out, he locked up his workshop and left for the front. He fought in the area of Knin, on Banija, near Kostajnica, Dubica... He has been on all fronts in Bosnia and spent 6 month as Commander of Military Police in Bosanska Dubica (now Kozarska). He cut a figure there in April 1992 when he caught a group of arms smugglers. His girlfriend was kidnapped on the occasion (he had met her on the front), but he managed to free her and bring her in front of the Justice of the Peace. He is a non-smoker and does not drink alcohol.

Captain Dragomir Babic: Commander of Town's Defense. Born in 1966, married and has an eleven-month-old daughter. He graduated from the Navy Academy in Split. He was in Herzeg-Novi when the war began. Took part in fighting around Prevlaka, and later left the Yugoslav People's Army and joined the Bosnian Serb Army forces in Banjaluka.

Captain Ostoja Bilak: Deputy Commander of Town's Defense. The highest ranking officer among the rebel soldiers. Born in 1955, married and has two daughters. Before the war he ran a tourist agency which he neglected after hostilities broke out. He took part in the war from the very beginning, fought in the area of Novska as a Commander of an armored unit, and was appointed Commander of the Armored Battalion of 16th Krajina Brigade after leaving Western Slavonia. His tank was hit on four occasions. He was never awarded or promoted. After returning from a seven-day leave he was unexpectedly dismissed from the post, which, according to him, caused dissatisfaction among the soldiers. He is currently in charge of operative and educational tasks for armored units of the brigade.

Miljan Zugic: Born in 1949 in Montenegro. Married and has two daughters. History teacher by profession, used to do art photography. He responded to the draft when the war in Bosnia began. Spent four months in the Banjaluka Center of Security Service, and then did similar tasks in the Army of the Serb Republic in Bosnia. He prevented a similar rebellion in January this year, saying that ``conditions were not ripe enough.''

Andjelka Zec: Statuesque brunette in fatigue, wife of Ostoja Zec. She is a chemical technician and computer operator. She was an accountant at the state firm before the war. Volunteer, a year and a half on the war front. She initiated a specific attitude towards hard-currency dealers in Banjaluka. In the headquarters, she is in charge of fuel, issues permits for passage, answers the phone and interrogates the prisoners. She manages to do everything and is never tired or sleepy.
