A Dud Tire

The Serbian President doesn't have much luck with tires. On landing at Geneva Airport last week, two tires on the left side of the ``Falcon 50'' carrying the Serbian delegation exploded. The pilots managed keep the plane on course and stop it. Six years ago, in January 1988, while he was still President of the League of Communists of Serbia, both back tires of Milosevic's car exploded. The car swerved off the road and the President suffered minor injuries.

A Mystery Murder In Subotica

Zvonko Osmajlic, head of security and Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) leader Vuk Draskovic's bodyguard, was arrested for murder on January 13 on the grounds that he had killed Marko Pejanovic from Subotica on September 21, 1993 and had tried to kill Tijana Bulajic, the secretary of the SPO branch in Subotica.

The crime took place in the Pejanovic family house at Palic. The victim was killed with four pistol bullets, while Tijana Bulajic who was in the house that evening, survived in spite of a bullet in the head.

The District Court Council sentenced Zvonko Osmajlic to a month in jail, for the duration of the investigation. Unofficially, Osmajlic was sentenced on the basis of a letter sent to the investigating judge by Tijana Bulajic, who is accused of being an accomplice in the murder.

The prosecution is keeping mum while the defence has come up with alibis for its clients. Tijana Bulajic's lawyer says that she is a victim and not guilty, while Osmajlic's lawyer Borivoje Borovic visited Subotica with seven judo wrestlerswitnesses who claim that Osmajlic was not at the scene of the crime that night. The witnesses have not been questioned.
