Proposal For Instituting the Death Penalty for the Most Serious Crimes

Given the situation our country finds itself in amid NATO aggression, Justice Minister Dragoljub Jankovic proposed that the Federal Government adopt acts which would facilitate criminal procedures in courts and prosecutors' offices in Serbia while the state of war is in effect

Justice Minister of Serbia, Dragoljub Jankovic sent a letter to state officials in which he proposes that the Federal Government, given the situation our country finds itself in amid NATO aggression, adopt acts which would facilitate criminal procedures in courts and prosecutors' offices in Serbia while the state of war is in effect, it was announced by this Ministry.
Jankovic proposed that in accordance with its Article 99, Paragraph 11, of the Yugoslav Constitution, while the state of war is in effect, the Federal Government change the requirements for assigning incarceration and its duration and the conditions of inviolability of facilities of the press and other sources of information.
Given that the Yugoslav Constitution discontinued the death sentence for criminal acts stipulated by federal law, the Serbian Justice Minister proposed that while the state of war is in effect that the Federal Government instituted the death sentence for the gravest criminal acts subject to federal laws, it is stated in the announcement.
