Belgrade.  Foreign currency payments with credit cards are discontinued in FRY
Moscow.  During a wrestling match in the city of Nalcik, in the South of Russia, a gallery fell in the gymnasium, killing 26, and injuring 35

Friday, June 26
Kosovska Mitrovica.  Miners at the Trepca Mine “Stari Grad” went on strike, demanding payment of back wages

Saturday, June 27
Adana, Turkey.  In an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, 128 people died, and around a 1,000 were injured
Belgrade.  In the building of the Center for Women’s Studies, a festive celebration was held for the International Day of Gay and Lesbian Pride
Podujevo.  In a conflict among Albanians on market day, one killed, two wounded
Rome.  La republica announced that the head of the Masonic Lodge P2, Ligo Gelli, is receiving treatment at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade

Timpu.  The King of Bhutan, Jigme Singh Vangchuk, permitted the placing of large TV screens in squares which will carry live coverage of the World Cup of Soccer.  Television is otherwise prohibited in Bhutan
Zagreb.  The Croatian Parliament adopted the Program for the Return of Expatriates, Refugees and Displaced Persons

Monday, June 29
Luxembourg.  Diplomatic chiefs of the European Union formalized the termination of flights by Yugoslav airline companies to EU countries

Tuesday, June 30
Kragujevac.  Milan Beko has been chosen President of the Executive Committee of “Zastava” automotive manufacturer at an investors meeting, after having submitted his resignation as minister without a portfolio in the Government of Serbia.  At a session of the Municipal Government, the Vice-President of the “Zastava” Group, Nebojsa Divljan, announced that partnership negotiations with the French Peugeot have been brought to a conclusion
Belgrade.  In a Government decree Mirjana Markovic has been appointed President of the Executive Council of the Psychiatric Hospital “Laza Lazarevic” in Belgrade
Washington.  An American F-16 plane fired a projectile at a radar system in the south of Iraq, after it fixed the coordinates of four British “Tornado” airplanes during their patrol flights in the vicinity of Basra
Skoplje.  The International Monetary Fund has confirmed foreign convertibility of the Macedonian denar

Wednesday, July 1
Belgrade.  On the Belgrade foreign currency black market, the German mark is being bought for 6.4 dinars, and sold for 7 dinars
