Quotes

THE STATEMENT OF THE WEEK:
"The state of health in our country is on a much higher level than we expected."
Leposava Milicevic, the positively surprised Minister of Health (for 'Radio Yugoslavia')

LJUBISA RISTIC, President of the Yugoslav Left, explained to listeners of 'Radio Beograd' why we escaped the air strikes: "They realized that they could not make any progress by bombing, and therefore, did not attack us. They would have definitely done so, if only they had thought it would have contributed to their own interests." (the show, 'An argument more')

ZIVORAD IGIC, member of the Head Committee of SPS (The Socialist Party of Serbia), speaking of Kosovo: "There is no such country in the world which kneels before its citizens and prays for their own contribution to the government, to vote and to be voted, to suggest and to have influence on others' suggestions." (Jagodina television station, 'Palma Plus')

SMILJA AVRAMOV, professor of International Law at the School of Law: "The celebration of November 29th has no legitimacy at all - it is only an absurdity for compromising ourselves before the entire world association. It is actually an attempt of a group to impose on this country the old, 'Brozian' identity - which ought to be fought against energetically - since it is, apart from other things, a hindrance for returning into the world." ('Novosti')
