Chiefs of the Supreme Headquarters in the Era of Slobodan Milosevic

Lieutenant General Zivota Panic, born in Gornji Crnisavi, near Trstenik, in 1993.  Tank operator.  In March of 1992 became Deputy Chief of the Supreme Headquarters, and on May 9, 1992, became Chief of the Supreme Headquarters.  Famous for the "Kentaur" affair in which his son's company "Kentaur" became the exclusive supplier of toilet paper for the Yugoslav Army.

Lieutenant General Momcilo Perisic, born in 1944 in Kostunici, near Gornji Milanovac.  Became Chief of the Supreme Headquarters on August 26, 1993, coming from the position of Commander of the Third Army (having occupied that position since May of 1993).  At the beginning of the disintegration of the SFRY, 1990/91, he was Commander of the Artillery Training Center in Zadar, Croatia, then Chief of Headquarters and Commander of the Bileca Corps.  He was replaced from the position of Chief of the Supreme Headquarters in November of 1998 because he counseled against the war with NATO.  Presently he is the President of the Movement for a Democratic Serbia.

Army General Dragoljub Ojdanic, born on June 1, 1941 in the village of Ravni, in the Community of Cajetina.  He graduated from the Infantry Officers School (1958) and the Military Academy (1964), as well as the Academy for Chiefs of Headquarters and the School of National Defense.  He is a Master of Military Science (1985, "Optimizing the Orders of an Infantry Division Commander").
He was promoted on two occasions outside of protocol, once to the rank of Captain, and the second time to the rank of Major General.  During his career he commanded a unit, and then became an instructor at the Military Academy.  He was assigned to Kosovo and served in Djakovica and Prizren.  The Pristina Corps Unit which was under Lieutenant Ojdanic's command was proclaimed the best unit in the Yugoslav People's Army in 1985.  He was president of the Communist Alliance in the Pristina Corps.  He later became Department Chief in the Supreme Headquarters, and during the war of 1992/93 he commanded the Uzice Corps (on April 20, 1992, he was promoted from rank of Lieutenant to the rank of Major General), and Commander of the Tactical Unit "Drina", which operated on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  After exploding the Visegrad dam, he entered Visegrad with his units.  He was Chief of Headquarters (1993), Commander of the First Army of the VJ (94), and Deputy Chief of Supreme Headquarters (June 1996).  He became Lieutenant General on June 16, 1997.  On November 24, 1998, he was appointed to the position of Chief of Supreme Headquarters of the Yugoslav Army.  On the basis of a decree issued the by FRY President, he became the first General of an Army in the VY on June 15, 1999.  He received the Medal of Freedom for his part in the defense against the NATO aggression.  During the war he was indicted by the Hague Tribunal which suspects him of murder and deportation on the basis of politics, race and religion, representing crimes against humanity and the breach of military law.  He speaks French.  Married (wife's name is Ljubina).

Lieutenant General Nebojsa Pavkovic was born on April 10, 1964 in Senski Rudnik, near Despotovac, Community of Cuprija.  He graduated from the Military Academy in 1970.  Was on duty in Bileca, Mostar and Banjaluka, where he was Commander of the 16th Motorized Brigade.  He was Head of Department in the School for National Defense in Belgrade.  Since 1994 he has been in service in Kosovo.  He was Commander of the Pristina Corps from 1996-1998.  He was promoted to Major General in June of 1996, to the position of Chief of Department for Operative Jobs in the Pristina Corps.  He was promoted outside protocol to the rank of Lieutenant General in 1998 on the basis of a Decree issued by the FRY President.  At the end of December of that year he was appointed Commander of the Third Army of the VJ.  He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General after the NATO aggression came to an end.  He calls General Ojdanic "Chief."  His hobby is painting, oils an watercolors.
