Last week's Croatian offensive on the Maslenica - Zadar front line had to be expected. Croatia is critically narrowed down in two places; the Serbs have to pass through narrow and dangerous corridors to reach their fellow countrymen in three big enclaves; the Muslims are either surrounded, or they commute between their territories only with the consent of the Croats

At first glance one sees that no one has any intention of changing anything

After marking two centuries since the birth of Vuk Karadzic, the father of Serbian literacy, it was realized that there were 33,042 illiterate persons in Belgrade alone. This is the number of those who admitted to not knowing how to read or write during the April 1991 census. Research shows that the number of those who are really illiterate, in spite of having officially completed several classes of primary school, is much greater.
