Yu Merry-Go-Round

RIKARD GUMZEJ, fashion adviser of the Croatian president, recently told "Globus": "It was so nice to see our president Dr. Tudjman looking so distinguished at his first official inter-state meeting with Mr. Cossiga! The Italian president was supposed to be in the limelight. After all, he comes from Italy, the world centre of fashion. But he was definitely upstaged by Dr. Tudjman!"

ANTONIJE ISAKOVIC, an academic and a socialist MP, a writer and the president of the Culture department at the Serbian parliament, happened last Tuesday to be in front of the Academy building, where the activists of the Democratic Party were collecting signatures for the resignation of Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic. When he spotted them, he started throwing abuse and demanding that the bill boards be removed. After they refused, Mr. Isakovic barged in the Academy building and called the security. The democrats had to recoil before the "arguments" of force.

The Pick of the Week

"The fact that Serbia entrusted us with its future I understand to be an oath to the homeland, a word of honour of the most faithful servant given to his people to serve him devotedly and repay him his dues"

Miodrag Djukic, Serbian minister of culture
