The military authorities have in the past few days made several signals, official and unofficial, that they intend to introduce stiffer measures against the deserters. This month alone will see a series of trials in the Military Court of Justice in Belgrade. Here is what happened.

The Arms Backfire The desperate Army is not going to stop, since it could not, even for a single moment, bare the thought of ending this war, just like a drunkard dares not think of giving up his vice. They say general Kadijevic loved life at a young age and knew how to enjoy the moments of pleasure. He was an attractive, charming young man, full of humour.

Shortly after signing the Brioni Declaration, the Army has, unexpectedly, decided to retreat from Slovenia. Leaving behind over a hundred tanks, other heavy artillery and lorries, fourteen "Slovenian" garrisons were, by the end of October, moved to Serbia (Sabac, Obrenovac, Jakovo, Koceljeva, Valjevo, Gornji Milanovac, Cacak, Raska and Novi Pazar), to Montenegro (Titograd) and to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bihac, Banja Luka, Mrkonjic-Grad, Travnik, Zenica, Sarajevo, Mostar, Trebinje, Doboj, Tuzla and Brcko).

It may sound as a paradox, but it is true that the Serbian government which looks as though nobody is taking its opinion into account is the owner of 45 percent of property in Serbia.

In recent months the Main Court in Pristina is kept busy with the journalists, but only with the ones who write in Albanian.

What had last week erupted as a media and political bomb in Macedonia, refers to the letter of Dragan Bogdanovski, the honorary president VMRO-DPMNE (the Democratic Party of the Macedonian national unity) was formed under the still unknown circumstances.

President Tudjman has already made a historical error of judgment by not offering the autonomy to the Serbs over a year and a half ago. It is now too late. Croatia can no longer be guarded by autonomies, but by the United Nations.
