Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the LiberalDemocratic Party of Russia, left Yugoslavia with a suitable souvenir. He has received an order of the Serbian Volunteer Guard from Zeljko Raznatovic Arkan, the famous paramilitary leader and a suspected war criminal, and thus found himself in the company of Dragan Tomic, the new Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, and other recipients of Arkan's decorations. Moreover, the leaders of the biggest party in Russia and one of the smallest parties in Serbia (Arkan`s Party of Serbian Unity) reached an agreement on cooperation, signed an accord, and confirmed their friendship with an eating bout in Hotel ``Jugoslavija.'' Zhirinovsky and Arkan passionately hugged, and, in the end, kissed each other in the mouth.

The rules are changing in Bosnia. Old ideas and negotiating routines are no longer valid, and the players are uneasy. The obvious is denied, and the general is admitted, albeit two years later. What rules will hold in the new games being played in Bosnia

This scandal has proved once more that the opposition is far from being united

When Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic was climbing to the top of authority in Serbia, one of the discarded revolutionary cadre said caustically, that the time had come when ``it was more important to have worked two years with ``Tehnogas'' (Milosevic`s former company), than to have spent four years in the revolution.''

The judgment on 25 Muslims from the ethnically tense Serbian province of Sandzak accused of ``an attempted secession of the territory of Sandzak from Yugoslavia and illegal collecting and possessing of arms, ammunition and explosives,'' has been put off for February 9.
