On Tuesday, the Serbian Parliament passed the worst press legislation since the introduction of newspapers in Serbia, two centuries ago. Maliciously, secretly, and with great urgency, MP’s found the text of the Law on their desks in the parliamentary chamber, a Law that had to be passed immediately. Those in government did not mind: they would have voted for it even without reading it. Those in opposition were powerless anyway
