"We wished to evacuate a group of 650 people who needed help more urgently than others, but the people literally took over the trucks in a stampede that night. They fought to get in. They were desperate and wanted to get out at any price. I saw mothers throw their babies into the trucks over the heads of other people. I saw women fighting. Several people were crushed to death..." says Mr. Jolles in the interview with VREME

If anything can be said of the Serbian Republic in Bosnia-Herzegovina authorities, then it is that they are consistent in their basic national-ideological commitment: to have nothing in common with anyone, and especially not with the Moslems and the Germans

The window frames are glassless everywhere, often covered with some kind of plastic, stove pipes sticking out. "There's not much to be seen. But, we'll rebuild it all over again", a friend says

At one point, it was not clear who was under whose protection, nor where the capital is, in Belgrade or in Bileca. The Bosnian war lobby is holding the Belgrade regime hostage; on the other hand, the radical groups are putting pressure on men refugees to return to the front in Bosnia

The last links are being severed, the holes are being bunged up, the ships are coming closer and the planes are starting to take off. For the time being all this is being done in the pitiful hope that Milosevic will give up and abandon his creation, which, he believes, will bring him lasting fame and lifelong power

Of all Serbs, President Slobodan Milosevic was the first one to be informed that Dafina Milanovic is in need of a large amount of money (dinars), to balance liquidity and pay her depositors. The information was simultaneously a plea which was flatly refused. Well informed sources say that the President "snapped" at the information, "She has still more reserves to last" and that the Topcider Mint did not increase production on this day owing to his words

Overshadowed by great cartographers and war-lords, who are playing the tug-of-war with the Vance-Owen maps in the world metropolises, trying to break off the largest possible chunks of territory for their future states, the christening of the conquered territories, far away from the public eye, is well underway in the Bosnian towns and cities. Along with planting of national flags on the territories, definitely seized (if anything can be definite in Bosnia), little cartographers in the field are erasing "hateful names" from the joint past of all three peoples and writing out new names
