"The sanctions have killed 80,000 Yugoslavs," Miroslav Ivanisevic, the Federal Minister for Labor, Health Care and Social Policy stated recently . "The rise in the death rate was not only influenced by the decrease in wages and the standard of living, but especially the quality of nutrition, difficulties in supplying the health institutions and health care service. The condition of the population's health has considerably worsened compared to the period prior to the sanctions which have discontinued Yugoslav development and prosperity," says the minister.
