Describing the concoction concerning the dismissal of the premier Ante Markovic at the Federal Parliament, the defying MP Husein Hodzic quoted an excerpt from "The Idiot" by Fyodor Dostoyevski

The conquering of Vukovar did not have the expected effect: nobody is rejoicing in it; misery, suffering and the fear of what the future may bring prevail. Nobody will be collecting the trophies since there are none. Vukovar was taken after it had been held under siege for exactly three months.

The Croatian political scene is now looking for a new leader, even a new Tudjman, but it is difficult to find a personality who can fit the description. Although even the foreign diplomatic sources agree that one of the main problems concerning the public image of Croatia is presented by its president and his autocratic structure, nobody is as yet strong enough to challenge him

The inconspicuous article with the following contents appeared in the Belgrade press last week: "The war which is going on in Yugoslavia is daily claiming the lives of the young, destroying property and land and causing irreparable damage to the souls of our people.

"After all that has happened between our peoples, especially between the Serbs and the Croatians, it is very difficult to find a common solution which would ensure peaceful international coexistence within Yugoslavia. However, I do think it is still possible."

Mr. Azem Vlasi (43), former president of the Communist Party of Kosovo and a former political convict (one of the victims of Milosevic's "anti-bureaucratic revolution" held in prison for over a year), is soon to return to the political arena, say the sources well acquainted with the situation in Kosovo.

The following news came from Paris last week: "SocPresse from Paris has established a cooperation with the VREME publisher, which was started on November 8 this year. The signing of the joint venture contract is expected this month. This will be the first foreign investment in a private Yugoslav news publishing company.
